Mirour de l'Omme or Speculum Meditantis
(French; 1376-79)
The Mirour is a moral and didactic poem of about 30,000 lines divided into three parts. In the first part, the Seven Deadly Sins and their opposite virtues are discussed; in the second part, the effect of sins on men who live in different conditions of society are shown; and the third part teaches sinners how they can gain redemption by repenting their sins and by asking the Virgin to be their intercessor.
