In this course we will take a thorough look at various Middle and Old English texts (or text extracts) of less prominence but all the more interest. Reading and translating will be the main content of this course, so a certain amount of interest for medieval literature is required.

The choice of material will be governed by the attempt to avoid too “well known” text samples, which most of us will probably have read already, and to delve into texts most of the participants probably have not studied yet, or have not even heard of.

The texts and additional materials are available on the university's BSCW-Server (bscw.uni-duesseldorf.de) to which you will be invited, if you send your name and a valid email-address to holteir@phil-fak.uni-duesseldorf.de.
